Sage words of wisdom...to myself

I need to get better at blogging, because right now I suck at it. The goal...post one thing everyday. Even if it's something small and short. I tried doing this with pictures, posting one picture everyday. I made it to about February before I finally gave up. But I'm going to try and do this for one year. A blog a day, even if it's a bitty blog. Lots of things to cover, running, religion, music, relationships, love, technology, etc. It's all going into this. So to kick off a year of blogging I'm going to start with a letter to myself...which I am promptly sharing with the rest of the world.

Dear 29 year old Andrea,

You're 2 1/2 months away from turning 30. DON'T FREAK OUT. It's just a number. And it's probably going to be a pretty fun birthday because you've been making fun of people for being old for awhile now so I'm sure they are going to plan something ridiculous and spectacular. Some things to keep in mind as you prepare to turn 30.

- Don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short.
- Run. For all the people that can't...run.
- Congrats on finishing the Brewers half marathon this year! I'm so proud of you. Now go get that 13.1 sticker!
- Love. Love without holding anything back. I have yet to meet someone that regrets loving people.
- You'll always learn something from the relationships you're in...romantic and platonic...good and bad. Don't disregard what you learned based on the fact that it might not end the way the "right" way according to you.
- Keep yourself centered in the One who remains unchanging. If you do this, the path won't be quite as bumpy. And remember why you're here.
- You're really good at Google. Don't let people know this. They'll think you're a stalker.
- Always have important conversations in person...never over a text message...or an email.
- See the good in people. We're all just doing our best.
- Have you gotten the muffler on the grandma car fixed yet?
- I hope you've finished your master's by this point. If you haven't...you're so close. Stop making excuses.
- Spend time with your mom and dad. Live your life, but remember to spend as much time with them as possible.
- Have you gone to Europe yet? Why not?
- Remember that time Luke did a handspring on your exercise ball? Yeah, that was awesome.
- Don't settle.
- Take a vacation. Bring your lovebucket.
- Remember what you see isn't ALWAYS what you get. Sometimes there's more there than meets the eye.
- Have you had a coffee date with the Schommer's lately?
- Remember that you want to take a hot air balloon ride!
- What's the recipe with the broken pretzel crust and strawberry/whipped cream top? It's so tasty...you should make that sometime. And the frozen fruit thing. Make that too. And fruit pizza. Just make sure you cook and bake a lot, because you enjoy that.
- What are you doing for yourself musically?
- Buy someone else's coffee today. Pay it forward.
- Don't forget about the chai tea at Berres Brothers. It's fall...you need a couple of bags.
- Have you taken advantage of all the doctor's appointments that are covered in your preventative care in your health insurance. (You're getting old...TAKE CARE OF IT!)
- Are you taking care of yourself? Mentally? Physically? Emotionally?
- Write another letter to yourself each year. Keep the important things important.
- Don't ever think of giving up coffee. Best thing...Saturday morning with a Cranky Al's crueller and a hot cup 'o joe.
- Did you ever find your mailbox key?
- You have my permission to remain this age forever. We like this number.
- Learn from the past, live in the present, and look forward to the future.

Love,
me
